OUR MISSION

AKA MK, and her beloved Beaver Brooks
They are living out a 40-year love story that has landed them in Beautiful Historic Downtown Brunswick Georgia.
They have crafted their current dream space at Makers. 1214 Newcastle St.
A place where folks gather, share stories, make stuff, support other makers, and generally make the world make a little more sense.
We’re a shop that celebrates…Makers!

The Maker Within

THE GLOBAL MAKER
Global: there is a quiet surge of growth among the edges of the global economic pyramid. Hand builders, porch gathered, and family caregiving people are becoming celebrated Makers. These are (mostly) women who are producing beautifully designed goods, from their homes or neighborhood. They are raising the quality of life in their communities and in the meantime, they are protecting themselves and their children from the vicious circle of human trafficking. Their work is circled in beauty and dignity.
We are FOR this.
We purchase products at a fair wage, which is a living wage. And sometimes that means we will pay more than the Maker asks. Because if we know the product’s worth in our market, and we know that a true living wage is more than what they ask, we negotiate UP.

THE LOCAL MAKER
Local: This area has so much talent, and we LOVE to showcase it here! Many Makers have an online presence and also do local art fairs, Makers is a space that makes it a little easier for folks to find these beautiful pieces in one space. We also really like these cool people who are making cool things.

THE INNER MAKER
Within: And now this is where we get up into your business. I have a hunch that we have much more in us than we know. And we don’t know because once we leave school, we’re not often asked to dig in and find it. So half our floor space is dedicated to the MAKE ART cafe where folks can come order off the MAKE ART menu any time we’re open! We’ll bring you a box with all the supplies and instructions you need to get started! Some even come with a QR code to watch a short video. The act of making is more of a brain-activating exercise than anything. The process wakes up some brain cells that have been on cruise control far too long!
